Monday Mettā
A new + beautiful way to experience Mondays.
May I experience balance today. May my balance support me.
While you don’t need to say this mettā while in warrior III pose, you might find some stillness for a moment, sitting or standing or lying down. May you experience the joys of balance in your life, especially today when the day and night are equals.
More on balance below.
✨
So glad you’re here.

🌷Today’s Spring Equinox and a New Moon
There is a new moon tomorrow, March 21. This is a seed-planting, underground-nourishing, new-beginnings kind of moon. This lunar darkness welcomes in the beginning of a new season, one filled with growth and movement. As you’ll read below, today marks the balance of light and dark. Tomorrow night, in this new moon, imagine you are a seed underground. You know the light is coming, so settle in for one more evening of full darkness.
Here is a meditation from Seed to Dust, Marc Hamer’s memoir about a year in an English garden. This is an excerpt from his chapter titled The Middle Way:
Equinox. The first day of spring. Everything changes in the garden and nothing changes. The blackbirds and sparrows are going wild, and there is a light shower, so I stay in bed for a while until it passes and I read…
Each one of us is a mix of strong and weak, good and bad, dark and light, and when they get out of balance, the whole of the person is out of balance and can easily fall…
Today the day is equal in duration to the night. Tomorrow there will be more light than dark, and things in the garden and air and soil will grow faster. Tonight we will celebrate with whisky and wine and food and fire.
To all of you in the northern hemisphere, I wish you a balanced spring equinox. Find time for work and for play, for rest and for action, for celebration and meditation. Enjoy the brightness of the day, as it means spring is on its way.

Your Tarot Reading, Revealed!
Card 1: Peach Quartz // Knight of Cups
The Knight of Cups brings with it imagination and intuition, and his message is that your “stability” might not look practical from the outside. Instead of practical, dive deeper into your most creative self, the one that imagines all you aspire to, all you could possibly achieve in life, and then amplify it. Basically… dream and dream BIG. The gift of the Knight of Cups is in his hand—a giant cup of the possibility of a full heart.
Card 2: Lapis Lazuli // Nine of Pentacles
What a great card for anything business related. The Nine of Pentacles speaks to individuality (whether through running your own business or making a name for yourself in your corporation), security, and self-sufficiency. Even if you feel like your business life is a mess right now, this card is telling you that what you’re doing is working. Just remember to keep your values and aspirations as your focus. Keeping your integrity in your work is what will (eventually) allow you to flourish.
Card 3: Thulite // Six of Swords
It might be time for a little alone time. Sometimes, we get so caught up in the love… and drama… of our relationships that we forget to nourish ourselves first. You can see the figure resting in solace here, but with dreams of a partnership (the two orcas) and an acknowledgement that solitude is a higher-self endeavor (the spirit whale at the top). Communicate to your partner that perhaps what you need is a moment, or weekend, off on your own. By nurturing yourself, you’ll nurture your relationship.
