Monday Mettā
A new + beautiful way to experience Mondays
I am my own best friend.
In the Sixth Teaching of The Bhagavad-Gita, Krishna tells Arjuna: “…the self it its own friend and its own worst foe.”
It’s good advice. “Treat yourself as you would a dear friend,” I’ve been told, especially when I’m being extremely hard on myself. “Would you allow your friend to talk about themselves the way you’re beating yourself down?”
Krishna’s words are a good reminder. We can choose to be our own best friend or our own worst enemy. Today, choose best friendship. Choose loving friendliness (maitri). Choose loving kindness (mettā).
I am my own best friend.

So glad you’re here.

🌕Full Moon…and a Total Eclipse🌕
Turn around… and look for the Full Moon tonight, big and bright, since it reaches its peak in the early morning tomorrow and begins to set. Tonight’s the time to light your candle, take a walk outside, and enjoy the energy of the moon. Every now and then, collect the moon’s energy.
And it’s not just any energy. It’s a total eclipse (click here if you’re not singing right now) and this means the sun, Earth, and moon stand in a line with the Earth’s shadow causing the moon to look reddish. A Blood Moon.
In North America, this should be visible at 6am EST, and earlier, respectively, towards the West.
Pretty cool. Enjoy the Blood Moon.

Your Tarot Reading, Revealed!
Card 1: Selenite // The Hermit
This one’s pretty clear, and the perfect card for this query. Having experienced (or still experiencing) physical healing, give everything some time to rest by becoming a bit of a hermit. Say “no” to some plans, move slowly through your day, and go to bed a little early. It takes a paper cut six weeks to fully heal, which means other, more serious issues take… quite a bit longer. Take all the time you need.
Card 2: Amethyst // Six of Pentacles
A scale literally shows up here, as a reminder of the balance you’re looking for. This card is actually, at its surface, about balancing wealth and abundance—of charitable giving and/or volunteering in any way that seems doable for you. So if we take that to the heart-body, think about what charitable giving you can do for yourself. What do you notice when you feel depleted physically and emotionally? If you can get a sense of what you’re missing, don’t hold back. Give yourself the gift of what you need.
Card 3: Angelite // Two of Cups
In preparing to speak up, go to someone you trust for council. Let your conversation be an exchange, not simply an unloading on your part. Seek advice that makes you feel courageous and honest, and reminders to widen your perspective when it comes time to make your case. But most important, please do say what you need to. It’s not healthy to keep things inside. Even if this means writing a letter that you never send, let the words out somehow.
