🌑 New Moon
This Saturday is August’s New Moon, and you know I love a new moon. It’s a time to make plans, gather resources, plant seeds, begin again. This summer has felt both long and short to me (I can’t remember the beginning of it—it seems like eons ago—but it’s amazing it’s already the end of August), and this is the final New Moon of summer. Let the day (August 27th) be lazy, inward focused, and don’t forget to breathe.
And, I always suggest a little candle to mark the moons.

Your Tarot Reading, Revealed!
Card 1: Thulite // Eight of Pentacles
This card is telling you that everything is intertwined (notice the web at the center of the card). Your relationships, even the worst of the worst, are here to show you how to be truly YOU, to live as who you are instead of how other people think you should be. When you are able to do this, your compassion, your awareness, your connection with others becomes less fraught and more cohesive. Relationships go in cycles (note the moon cycle) and it’s OK to have ebbs and flows, or to even disconnect completely. By working to understand your truest motivations and desires, and by feeling as free and at peace as you can among your relationships, you will develop compassionate awareness for others.
Card 2: Birds Eye Rhyolite // Temperance
Temperance. In tarot cards, the careful alchemy of solar and lunar, conscious and subconscious, energetic and relaxed, outgoing and inward looking. There will always be outside expectations—that’s what happened when you live in a society. How can you blend the “rules” and hopes of others with what’s truly in your heart? Reflect on a few things you feel you SHOULD do and write them down. If there is something on that list that really hurts your heart, cross it off for a week. Check out. See what happens if you can release the idea of who you should be, in just that one aspect, and what replaces it.
Card 3: Carnelian // Nine of Wands
Well, you got the perfect suit for this question. Wands represent creativity and passion, the most artistic of all four suits. In this case, you need some structure and balance in order to be able to create (notice the four poles on either side of the figure—four is the number of structure). Sometimes it feels like innovation should be boundary-less, but this week, see what you can do with some boundaries. Set goals. Write a “to-do” list. Do your artistic work in sprints (use the Pomodoro Technique—I use it and love it). Give yourself the foundation (ie: structure) to lift up your work. Instead of hindering you, it will inspire.
